Hi Parents!
Here are a few announcements:
1: Looks like it is going to be a cold week, which means inside recess. I will encourage students to bring something from home to share during inside recess all week. A card game, board game, art supplies, or legos are some ideas. I have some puzzles and basic art supplies in the room but they tend to get bored after a day inside. Please label anything you send in.
2: I hope you received the invitation to our Love and Literacy class celebration. Save the date for Wednesday, February 13th @ 7:20 am. Students will showcase some of their best writing from the school year. Look for a breakfast sign up to come out soon for this event. It will end when the announcements start at 7:55.
3: We will also exchange valentines on Wednesday, February 13th due to Target being on Thursdays. Students should bring in any valentine box or holder. I will email home an updated class list for students to address valentines. We have 25 students in our homeroom.
Here is what we are learning this week:
Math:
This week in math we will continue to work on fractions. Students learned about equivalent fractions last week. We will learn how to compare fractions this week. On Friday of this week we will take a fraction assessment.
Writing:
In writing students will finish their opinion writing.
Reading:
In reading we will integrate science and learn about animal adaptations. Students will read different non fiction passages on animals and learn to answer questions and identify important information in a text.
Social Studies:
On Wednesday, we will go to the ILC to kickoff a research project on European Explorers. Mrs. Bates will lead the students through choosing an explorer and researching for an end product. We will continue this project in the ILC about once a week for three weeks.
STEAM:
In STEAM we are brainstorming how we can make a difference at Tritt with recycling and conservation. As a class/grade level we are working on creating a data baseline to see how well our teachers and students recycle in the classroom.
Grammar:
In Grammar we are learning about comparative and superlative adjectives and adverbs.
Week in Review:
Monday: No School
Tuesday:
Wednesday: ILC
Thursday: Target Day
Friday: Parent Reader
I hope you have a great week!
