Hi Parents!
We have another busy week ahead in 3rd grade!
This week all 3rd graders will rotate to each 3rd grade classroom for our Native American rotations. Each teacher has prepared an in depth 45 minute lesson on a particular region the students need to know. The kids are so excited to travel to other classrooms. The rotations will be on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
On Monday we have Andrew's grandfather, Don Masisak, coming to speak to our class in honor of Veteran's Day. He was a E5 Sergeant in the Army.
On Thursday we have a special author coming to Tritt and we will hear about her book, The Bravest Worrier.
Lastly, I promised the students we would watch the movie, Because of Winn Dixie, before Thanksgiving break since we finished the read aloud last week. They loved the book and it will be interesting for us to compare and contrast the book and the movie as a class. We will fit that in on Thursday and/or Friday.
Whew! Somehow I will manage to teach the following in the few moments left:
Math: In Math we are going to work on multiples of 10. This is usually a fairly simple skill so I saved it for this week since we will not have our normal math block everyday.
Writing: We are going to spend most of our time this week finishing our informational books. They are loving working on them and they are coming along nicely! I hope to send them home before the break. (that's a big maybe)
Reading: Since our schedule is so busy we are going to focus on grammar during the few reading blocks we have. Grammar often gets the boot during our reading block so it will be nice to focus on these skills in isolation this week. We will work with regular and irregular verbs and verb tenses. Be sure students are reading 20 minutes at home each night this week!

Hope you all have a great week!!!
