Hello Parents!
This past week went by so quick with the Monday holiday and testing. I am so thankful we get a few days off from testing before we start back with IOWA on Thursday of this week.
Please note that the students will have homework at the beginning of the week since we have a break from testing. Also, I'm attending a training on Wednesday of this week, it will be off campus. We are fortunate to have Mrs. Bourg with us all morning so the day runs as usual when I am out.
Week in Review:
Monday:
Tuesday: Target Day
Wednesday: Mrs. Adams out
Thursday: IOWA testing
Friday: IOWA testing
Here is what we are learning this week:
Math: We will review subtraction strategies and take an assessment on subtraction within 1,000 at the end of this week. We will also review word problems with addition and subtraction. We are working on 2 step word problems.
Science: The students were so excited to start our unit on Rocks and Minerals. We will continue this unit this week.
Writing: This week we will learn how to use dialogue correctly when writing our narrative pieces. We will also work on using transition words in our writing.
Reading: In Reading we will work on identifying the theme and moral of a story. In Grammar we will review pronouns, proper nouns, and abstract nouns.
How can you help at home?
*Return the permission form for our Tellus field trip in October, please be sure to flip to the back for a lunch choice.
*Make sure your child is working on the book report due next week.
*Make sure your child is reading for 20 minutes each day. Check in with them on what they are reading and be sure they are sticking to a book they enjoy or read a chapter book together.
*This week I hope to get a letter home inviting you to join our class SeeSaw account. You will be able to see your child's digital work and comment on it.
Hope everyone has a great day!
Joni
